History of the documentary

Este proyecto nacio de la idea de buscar iniciativas en America Latina que van en contra del individualismo para lograr los desafios ambientales sociales y economicos de nuestro siglo.

Para responder esta pregunta, sobre el "actuar juntos" queriamos encontrar actores a diferentes escalas, ciudadanos, sector privado, sector publico, con la idea de hacer un documental inspirador y ver cono cada pequena accion puede inspirar y influenciar sur entorno y las politicas publicas.

The project was born from the idea to look for initiatives in Latin America to kill individualism ** to tackle environmental or economical problems**.

To answer these questions about the "act and live together" , we went to meet players at multiple scales: citizens, private sector, local and national governments with the idea of making a documentary to inspire action and to illustrate how each action can influence our surroundings but also public policies.

Why Latin America ?

For decades in Latin America there had been projects, citizen, public policies giving a vision of a more inclusive and sustainable world. in a world more and more individualist, how to continue to innovate socially and environmentally to persevere on the path to a more democratic, sustainable and balanced society? How to learn from these experiences after several decades and how to build in Europe and in the world societies that catalyze solidarity and optimism to overcome the austerity and cynicism around us?

Who are the protagonists of the documentary ?

During our trip, we met some fifty actors, project initiators about social and solidarity economy, participatory democracy…:

• Development banks supporting local currencies such as the Institute Las Palmas in Brazil
• Social movements like the Landless Movement
• Examples of participatory budgets
• Networks of circular economy implementation
• Companies and foundations working for the common good
• Foundations promoting political transparency, new forms of citizen democracy or sustainable development
• and many others !

What are the questions we asked ?

From a mistrust and disillusionment atmosphere that appear at first glance on the world around us, we asked ourselves how to give visibility to initiatives that work and we wanted to know what are their keys to success.

What is solidarity ?

How can we emancipate and empower ourselves collectively and individually?

How can we consume differently to promote a sustainable economy ?

How does the vicious circle of individualism work ?

What are the new citizenship and the new democracies?

Why do we want to live together ?

Are consumption and growth needed to overcome poverty ?

And then once finished, where do we broadcast the documentary?

We want to release our documentary in festivals in Latin America and Europe and accompanying projections of debates, discussions and conferences on the themes addressed and invite the protagonists and organizations to participate at theses conferences.

And we do not want to stop there !

We thought the project in 3 steps:

Phase 1 : Shooting and editing documentary

Phase 2 : Projection, dissemination, conferences and workshops around citizenship and collective action

Phase 3 : Networking via a matchmaking platform for actors and dissemination of ideas in the form of case studies

Le porteur de projet

The team

Concerned and affected by climate change and the current challenges of our societies, we are part of the generation of the less than 30 years, called " disillusioned", in search of change you will not find in the polls. Involved in various community projects and enthusiasts by meeting new people, it's in a natural way that we decided to go to meet actors of change working for collective projects to resume economic, social or political in Latin America.

Aurélie

Experience:

Graduated from the engineering school “Mines de Nantes”, Aurelie Charton worked as an engineer in renewable energy and bioenergy in France and New Zealand and then as an environmental engineer in the Development France Agency in Colombia, where her role was to support the Colombian government or the local authorities in setting public policy related to environmental protection and climate change.

In the associative field, Aurélie supported the establishment of arts workshops for all with the association “L’envolée bleue” and participated in the 9th and 10th edition of the New Cinema Festival with the association CINE FAC. Finally, she was a support in the organization of events and communication within the association Curiozworld.

Motivation:

Aurélie is primarily a person who believes in one's ability to act on their surroundings. For her we are players of the world in which we live: "it is in respecting its own principles, values and beliefs that we change things." She cites a phrase of Jacques Prevert "We must try to be happy at least to set an example."

Lisa

Experience:

Fond of traveling and a degree in ocean engineering from the school Centrale Nantes in hand, Lisa began her working life as a project engineer in the oil and gas services sector in Kuala Lumpur and then in France since late 2012. Lisa was very involved in associations student in particular on equal opportunities issues with disadvantaged high school students with the BRIO Association where she was guardian. Since moving to Paris, Lisa has helped in the associations Alternatiba and Disco Soup on the organization of Parisian events.

Motivation:

Very soon the desire to give meaning to her action and awareness on the concepts of sustainable development, social economy is the tip of her nose and the need to act by herself leads to follow the MOOC entrepreneur of change from HEC and the idea to meet with agents of change has emerged. Lisa believes in the individual and collective initiative to make a difference in diversity and quotes a phrase from philosopher and sociologist Edgar Morin: "Humans must recognize their common humanity, at the same time recognizing their diversity both individual cultural".

The team will be responsible for setting, editing and doing the post-production of the documentary as well as the inclusion of animated scenes for developing ideas discussed in the documentary.
